Named after the popular perennial garden flower, Delphinium Blue shows up in the Hostessware lineup by 1935. Not an easy to color for collectors to find, representing around 10% of found pieces. The weighting in my collection is a little higher due to the great fortune I had in securing a complete (unused!) set for eight and I’ve had good luck filling out the serving pieces in this color. As you’ll see with many of the Hostessware glazes, earlier iterations are thicker and more matte; they transitioned to a more refined, higher gloss glaze later on.
